Princeton at Cornell
October 25th, 1958
Princeton loses 8-34
Ladies and gentlemen: the Princeton University Band presents (fanfare) Believe It or Don’t! (fanfare) The Band will depict through song and formation a series of startline facts. Be sure to listen for the conclusion of each sequence at the end of the song. June Sigafoos is the world’s fattest female. June weighs over four thousand pounds.
“June is Busting Out All Over” (Band forms scale)
June Sigafoos is a hippopotamus. Rodney Renefrew, the man on the flying trapeze, once jumped from a height of four hundred feet into a bucket of water only one foot deep.
“Man on the Flying Trapeze” (Band forms trapeze) Band plays scale, with bass drum “boom” at end.
Rodney only did this trick once. Rudy Shmenk ascended Mount Whitney, the highest mountain in the United States, in the fastest time every recorded, performing the feat in two hours, twenty six minutes, and forty-three seconds.
“There’s a Long, Long Trail” (Band forms mountain)
Unfortunately, Rudy’s record was disallowed because he walked on his hands. Sam and Oliver Pennypacker, performing in a small cage, once fought off seven wild tigers with their hands tied behind their backs. After several minutes, however, the tigers loosened their bonds and quickly devoured the two men.
“Tiger Rag” (Band forms cage)
