Dartmouth 1958

Dartmouth at Princeton
November 22nd, 1958

Princeton loses 12-21

Ladies and gentlemen, the Princeton University Band presents…. A Salute to the South. One of the highlights of any year in the South is the Kentucky Derby. We take you to Churchill Downs, outside the track, where thousands of racing fans gather nervously, downing their mint juleps before the big race.

(Band forms mint julep)

And now, let’s go inside for the big race. Ladies and gentlemen, the 84th running running of the Kentucky Derby.

(Band forms oval)  (Band forms bomb)

No salute to the South is complete without a tribute to that great southerner, Eli Whitney, who went down in history for his famous statement: “Get your cottin-pickin’ hands off my gin.”

(Band forms bottle)

The Princeton University Band closes its 1958 season by saluting the many alumni present at today’s game with Sousa’s march: “The Thunderer.”
